Surface structure

On the surface of the anilox roll, a plurality of minute concave holes of uniform shape are uniformly distributed, which are generally referred to as "inking holes", which are the functions of ink storage, ink leveling and quantitative ink transfer in printing. The ink hole is generally engraved along the direction of the axis at 45°, and the partition wall between the ink holes is called a “mesh wall”, and the area of the mesh wall is related to the shape of the ink hole.

Ink shape

Several common ink hole shapes include: a quadrangular pyramid, a quadrangular prism, a hexagonal prism, a trapezoidal cross-section, and an additional channel ink hole. The opening degree and depth of the ink hole have a considerable influence on the ink transfer performance of the ink hole. The larger the opening degree, the shallower the depth, the better the ink transfer property; on the contrary, the ink transfer property is relatively poor. Among the several types of ink-receiving holes mentioned above, the hexagonal-shaped ink-shaped opening has a large opening degree, so that the ink-removing and ink-releasing properties are better, and therefore, the ink of this shape is often used in the engraved anilox roller. hole.

Number of lines

The number of lines of the anilox roll refers to the number of ink holes in the unit length of the anilox roll surface, and is also one of the important parameter indexes of the anilox roll, which also has a very important influence on the ink transfer performance of the anilox roll. In general, the higher the number of lines of the anilox roll, the smaller the amount of ink transferred, and vice versa. In addition, the number of lines of the anilox roller also determines its own range of application. In general, when printing large-area solid color patches or images that are not too high, it is conceivable to use a low-line anilox roller, for example, an anilox roller of about 360 lines/inch can be used when printing a solid area. On the contrary, when printing fine images or small characters and lines, an anilox roller with a relatively high number of lines should be used to prevent the gradation of the tonal value from being greatly immersed in the ink hole due to the small dot size in the high-light region, or extremely fine. The lines are thicker. However, the number of lines of the anilox roll should not be too high. If the number of lines of the anilox roll is too high, it will not only cause certain difficulty to the processing process of the anilox roll, but also, due to the mesh wall of the high-line anilox roll. When the thickness is thinned, the strength is lowered and damage is likely to occur, that is, if the number of lines of the anilox roll is too high, the service life is accordingly shortened. In general, the number of lines of the anilox roll is four or five times the number of screen lines for the print job. Of course, it must be combined with the actual situation of the actual production of the printed image.

classification

Anilox rolls are classified according to the material they are plated or sprayed on, and are mainly chrome-plated anilox rolls and ceramic anilox rolls.

Processing of chrome-plated anilox rolls The processing of chrome-plated anilox rolls usually involves three processes: roll pre-machining, web finishing and post-treatment.

The laser-engraved ceramic anilox roll is a plasma method in which a metal oxide (Al2O3 or Cr2O3) is melted and sprayed on the surface of a metal photo roll to form a ceramic film having high hardness and a firm and dense metal roll. , polishing, and then engraving the ink hole on the ceramic surface with a laser beam.

The inventory of anilox rolls in the printing plant grows with the development of the business. In order to effectively select the most suitable anilox rolls according to the requirements of different printings, it is necessary to list the stocking rolls.

If this list is only classified by LPI, only the number of lines of the anilox roll can be known, and the volume of the cell (BCM) cannot be known. The necessary parameters cannot be provided when selecting. For example, the 800LPI anilox roller may be 1.0BCM, while others may be 1.8 or larger BCM. The amount of ink transferred by the printing is very different, so the inventory of the anilox roller is marked. In addition to the LPI of the anilox roll, the BCM parameters must also be recorded separately.

In addition, due to the long period of use of the anilox roller and the maintenance, the surface of the anilox roll or the wall of the mesh or the blockage of the ink residue is also different, and the printing effect is also greatly different. Therefore, when preparing the stock anilox roll list, it should also be noted.

When ordering an anilox roll from a manufacturer, the user should specify the processing parameters, including: number of lines per inch, cell volume, engraving angle, and unengraved sideband width (if any). In addition, since there is always a certain difference in the processing, even if the same LPI and BCM are processed for the anilox roll, it is preferable to order the processing in batches.
